Blog Tour: Frost @DavisKaitlyn #YA #paranormal #romance #giveaway via @YABoundToursPR

Please tell us a bit about yourself:

Hi everyone! I’m Kaitlyn Davis, Kay Marie, and just Kaitlyn to my friends :)

I write young and new adult fantasy series under the name Kaitlyn Davis, and I write contemporary romances under the name Kay Marie! My most popular series is probably my paranormal romance, Midnight Fire, but I've also written an epic fantasy series, A Dance of Dragons, a chick lit series, Confessions, and a twisted fairy tale series, Once Upon A Curse!

My newest book, Frost (Midnight Ice Book 1), is the first book in a brand new spin-off series to Midnight Fire, and I’m super pumped to be writing paranormal romance again!

Tell us about Frost (Midnight Ice Book 1):

Whoops, I guess I jumped the gun a little on the last question J Like I said, Frost is the first book in a new paranormal romance series that’s a spin-off of my most popular series, Midnight Fire. Old characters make appearances, but it’s a brand new magical tale!

The story follows a vampire thief named Pandora who ran away from home four years before the book begins. But now, her ex-boyfriend has tracked her down and he’s determined to bring her home. Oh, and there’s a mystery man following her around, claiming they’ve met before. A seriously powerful vampire is trying to kill her. And, well, the fate she’s been trying to outrun? It’s about to catch up.

What inspired you to write this particular story?:

I’ve always wanted to revisit the world I created in my Midnight Fire series, but every idea that came to mind seemed insufficient—until Pandora popped into my brain! The moment this badass yet vulnerable vampire thief came to life, I knew her story was the one I’d been waiting for. And before I knew it, the ideas were flowing. Her backstory. Her romance. Her impossible odds. Now, I just need to work on solving her happy ending J But I have a few more books to go before I get there, so I’ve got plenty of time!

Which comes first for you – a character's looks, personality or name?:

Definitely not a name! I absolutely hate naming my characters—I spend hours scouring baby name websites. For some reason, I find names to be the most frustrating part of the writing process!

For almost all of my characters, it’s personality and backstory. Their conflicts and emotions develop long before their looks and names do.

Any tips for aspiring authors?:

To borrow a line from one of my favorite movies, just keep swimming J Writing is not easy! There’s always self-doubt and insecurity. There’s always uncertainty. And there are plenty of outside hurdles to overcome as well—be it agents and publishers, other authors, competition, or just learning everything one difficult step at a time. But if you keep writing, and keep pushing, and keeping doing your best, eventually you can make your dreams come true.

Questions for fun:

If you had the power of time travel, is there anything you would go back and change? Why/why not?:

Ooh, so tough! There are so many horrific things that have happened in the past, but I’m not sure one person changing one moment would change the overall outcome. I’d be too afraid of the unforeseen consequences and what sort of ramifications would ripple from that single act of good intention.

What super-power would you choose?:

I love to travel, so I always used to answer flying for this question. But I recently thought about the actual act of flying, and realized it would probably suck. The air is cold. What if you get stuck in a rain storm? Or a hurricane? I hate driving in convertibles because the wind in my hair drives me crazy. So, I’ve changed my answer to teleportation. That way I could travel to so many amazing, beautiful locations without any of the fuss!

Coffee, tea or wine?:

Coffee! I’m a total addict J Wine would be a close second though…

What is your favourite book? (aside from one of your own!):

Ugh…so tough! I love them all! My favorite series of all time is probably Harry Potter. I can just read those books over and over and over again—it’s never enough. The characters make me smile every time, almost like visiting old friends. However, I just finished All the Light We Cannot See, and it was a truly phenomenal book and it’s now right up at the top of my list!

Favourite genre and why?:

Young adult, because it has a little bit of everything J High fantasy, thrilling dystopian, swoony romances, heart-pumping paranormal adventures! I know, I know, it’s sort of cheating, but if bookstores and everyone else will glob all YA literature onto one category, I will too!

Favourite colour?:
Blue and green—it’s a tie!

Upcoming news and plans for the future?:

Writing, writing, and more writing J There are too many books in my head, and too little time! My next project is the sequel to Frost, and then after that I’ll either keep working on this series straight through or pause to write a contemporary romance that’s been percolating in the back of my mind for a while!

Thank you so much for taking the time to talk to us!

Thank you!

Summary from Goodreads:

Even the hottest love can turn a girl cold-blooded…

Life's tough for a vampire thief on the run—just ask Pandora Scott, she knows. Four years ago she ran away from home after everyone she loved betrayed her. But now her annoyingly grown up (and handsome) ex boyfriend is stalking her, begging her to return. A mysterious vamp with a particularly dangerous (and sexy) stare keeps popping unexpectedly into her life. The extremely powerful head vampire of New York is hunting her down because she may or may not have broken into his highly-secure, highly-secretive personal vault. And the fate she's been trying to outrun? Well, it's about to catch up. Because even a super-speedy vamp with the ability to disappear can't escape her own destiny.

A brand new spinoff to Midnight Fire, a bestselling series with over 200,000 copies sold and over 5000 5-star reviews on Goodreads! Fans will enjoy special appearances from Kira, Luke and Tristan while falling in love with the new characters and new adventure of Midnight Ice.
